The information in this article is accessible only by Admin and TC users in Sisu.

This article walks you through how to send Task Notifications from Sisu to a Slack channel of your choice.

To make setup simple, this guide is broken into four parts. Complete each section in order to successfully send Sisu Task Notifications to Slack.

Before You Begin

Before starting, make sure you have:

  • Access to the Slack workspace where notifications will be sent

  • The Slack channels already created that you want Sisu to post to

Part 1: Create a Slack App and Incoming Webhook

In this section, you’ll create a Slack app and generate a webhook URL for the channel you want to receive Sisu notifications.

  1. Go to the Create an App page on api.slack.com.

  2. Click From scratch.

  3. Enter an App Name.

ℹ️ Note: The app name is what will appear as the sender of messages in Slack.

  4. Select the Slack Workspace you want to use.

ℹ️ Note: If no workspaces appear, click Sign into a different workspace and log into the correct one.

  5. Click Create App.

  6. On the Basic Information page, scroll to the bottom and upload an app icon (optional but recommended).

  7. Click Save Changes.

  8. From the left-hand menu, select Incoming Webhooks.

  9. Toggle Activate Incoming Webhooks to On.

  10. Click Add New Webhook to Workspace.

  11. Use the drop-down to choose the Slack channel the app should post to, then click Allow.

  12. Click Copy next to the newly created Webhook URL. You’ll need this webhook URL in Part 2. Keep this page open in case you need to copy it again.

Part 2: Add the Slack Webhook to Sisu

After completing Part 1, now you'll add the webhook URL to Sisu.

  1. Click the Add Channel button.

  2. Enter a Name for your channel. Choose a descriptive name to indicate the purpose of the channel (for example, Under Contract Notifications).

  3. Paste the webhook URL into the Web Hook URL field.

  4. Click Add.

  5. The channel will appear with a status of Unverified. Click Verify.

  6. Open Slack and navigate to the Slack channel you're integrating. Copy the PIN that was automatically sent from Sisu.

  7. Return to Sisu, paste the PIN, and click Verify.

Once verified, the Slack channel status will update to Active. ✅

Next Steps: Create Your Notification Template(s) and Task Notification(s)

Once your Slack channel is connected and verified in Sisu, you’re ready to configure what gets sent to Slack and when. Creating Notification Templates and Task Notifications is covered in a separate article, which walks through setting up the message content, selecting Slack channels as recipients, and defining trigger timing.
