Configuring Email Sending & Reply Addresses in Sisu

Written by Kayla Latta

Sisu allows teams and individual users to customize the email address used when sending emails through the platform. Depending on your setup, emails can be sent from a personal Gmail account, a team Gmail account, a non-Gmail account, or the default [email protected] address. The sections below explain the different setup options and when to use each.

Topics in this article:

Personal Gmail Integration

Individual users can connect their own Gmail account to send emails directly from their personal email address. Once connected, emails sent through Sisu will appear as if they are coming directly from your Gmail account instead of the default [email protected] address.

To connect your personal Gmail account, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Account > Profile.

  2. In the Integrations section, locate the Gmail Integration.

  3. Click the Connect Gmail button.

  4. Sign in to your Google account

  5. Review and approve the requested Google permissions

  6. Once connected, the integration will display Connected with a green checkmark.

ℹ️ Important Notes:

  • Personal Gmail integrations only apply to the individual user who connected the account.

  • A connected personal Gmail account takes precedence over the team Gmail integration (if configured).

  • Disconnecting the personal integration causes emails to fall back to the team Gmail integration (if configured).

  • If neither a personal nor team Gmail integration is connected, emails will send from [email protected].

Team Gmail Integration

This feature is accessible only by Admin & TC users in Sisu.

Team admins can connect a Gmail account for the entire team. This allows emails sent through Sisu to appear as though they are being sent directly from a connected Google account instead of the default [email protected] address.

This connected account becomes the default sender for users who do not have their own personal Gmail integration connected.

To connect a team Gmail account, follow these steps:

  1. In the Integrations section, locate the Gmail Integration.

  2. Click the Connect Gmail button.

  3. Sign in to the Google account you want the team to use.

  4. Review and approve the requested Google permissions.

  5. Once connected, the integration will display Connected with a green checkmark.

ℹ️ Important Notes:

  • The connected team Gmail account becomes the default sender for users without a connected personal Gmail integration.

  • A connected personal Gmail account takes precedence over the team Gmail integration.

  • If the team Gmail account is disconnected or permissions are revoked, Sisu will revert to sending emails from [email protected].

  • Teams should ensure the connected inbox is actively monitored for recipient replies.

Setting Up a Non-Gmail Reply-To Email Address

This feature is accessible only by Admin & TC users in Sisu.

Teams that do not use Gmail for email sending can configure a custom reply-to email address instead. This allows replies from Sisu emails to be routed to a designated inbox or shared email group outside of Sisu.

To connect a team reply-to email address, follow these steps:

  1. If desired, create an email group or shared inbox for your team.

  2. Log in to Sisu.

  3. Click the chat bubble in the bottom corner of the page.

  4. Type "Talk To Person" to be routed directly to our team.

  5. Send us the email address you would like recipients to reply to.

  6. Our team will notify you when the initial setup has been completed. You will receive a verification email at that time.

  7. Click the verification link in the email to confirm the reply-to address.

ℹ️ Important Notes:

  • The connected team account becomes the default sender for users without a connected personal Gmail integration.

  • A connected personal Gmail account takes precedence over the team integration.

  • If the team account is disconnected or permissions are revoked, Sisu will revert to sending emails from [email protected]

  • Teams should ensure the connected inbox is actively monitored for recipient replies.
