Templates allow you to quickly create roadmaps for multiple transactions and apply steps to them. Once you assign a roadmap template to a transaction, a new roadmap is created in their Client Portal and the template's steps are applied to it. New roadmaps are no longer tied to the template that created them. That means you can customize each roadmap without worrying about changing the original template.

Before you begin...
Set up tasks and task lists in Sisu
Make sure that there's a task for each roadmap step
You can turn an entire task list into a roadmap template so create task lists that would be good roadmaps
Include tasks in these task lists that might not apply to everyone. You can exclude these tasks from the roadmap template, but they can be added into the roadmap when the exceptions apply.
Assign task lists to your transactions
Add desired Date fields to your Sisu forms (e.g., Escrow Date or Earnest Money Due Date)
ℹ️ Note
Each step of each roadmap is connected to Sisu through tasks and key dates that already exist in Sisu. So when a task's status is updated in Sisu or a key date is entered in a form, Client Portal roadmaps are updated accordingly. This means that each step in a client's roadmap must correspond to a task in a task list that has already been assigned to that client's transaction.
📖 Note
If you want to know more about tasks and task lists, you can register for Sisu 101, which has a free weekly course on tasks. Anyone can join and you can even ask private questions via the chat.

Creating a New Roadmap Template
⚠️ Important Note!
Make sure you create your roadmap templates in the order you'd like the corresponding roadmaps to appear for clients.
1. Go to client.sisu.co/auth/login and log into Client Portal.
2. In the left sidebar, click Roadmap Builder.
3. In the Roadmap Name field, enter the name of your new roadmap template.
4. Select a Client Type.
5. If desired, choose a Roadmap Trigger.
ℹ️ Note
When the transaction gets to the status or stage that you select as a trigger, the roadmap automatically appears for the client in Client Portal.
6. Click Create. This makes your new roadmap template appear in the Roadmaps section on the left.
7. Now it's time to add steps to your template! See the next section for help.
Adding Steps to a Roadmap Template
After you create a roadmap template, it will be empty. You have to add steps that give the client insight into important dates and to-dos. You can add steps manually or you can use existing task lists to quickly fill in a roadmap.
⚠️ Important Note!
You can add any available Sisu task to a roadmap template. However, if the task doesn't exist in one of the client's task lists in Sisu, it won't appear in the client's roadmap.
Go to client.sisu.co/auth/login and log into Client Portal.
In the left sidebar, click Roadmap Builder.
Click on a roadmap template in the Roadmaps section.
Do one of the following:
Adding a Single Step
1. In the Roadmap Builder, click the Add Step button in the top-right corner. This opens the Add New Step window.
2. Enter a Step Name.
3. Click the Choose Task or Date drop-down, and select an option from the list.
ℹ️ Note
You can add date steps and task steps. Date steps are tied to Date fields in Sisu forms. Task steps are tied to a task in one of the client's task lists.
4. Enter a Description.
5. In the YouTube Video Embed field, enter a YouTube ID.
📖 Note
For help finding a YouTube video's ID, check out this article in our Knowledge Base.
6. If you'd like an email notification to be sent to the client when this step happens, click the Step Notifications drop-down and click one or more of the checkboxes.
7. If you don't want the step to be visible to the client, click the Internal Only checkbox. (The box should be checked.)
8. Click the Add Step button, which will add the step to the end of the roadmap template.
Using a Task List to Add Steps
You can use task lists in Sisu to automatically fill a roadmap with steps.
1. In the Roadmap Builder, click the Add Dates & Task List button in the top-right corner.
2. In the window that appears, click the Task Lists drop-down, and select one of your Sisu task lists from the menu.
3. Click the Add Templates button. This adds each task from the list as a step in your roadmap template.
Using Key Dates to Add Steps
1. In the Roadmap Builder, click the Add Dates & Task List button in the top-right corner.
2. In the window that appears, click the Key Dates drop-down, and select one or more key dates.
3. Click the Add Templates button. This adds each date you selected as a step in your roadmap template.
Editing a Step in a Roadmap Template
⚠️ Important Note!
When you make a change to a template, it doesn't change the roadmaps you've already applied the template to. Once you apply a template to a transaction, the newly created client roadmap is no longer tied to the template.
In Client Portal, click Roadmap Builder in the left sidebar.
Click on a template in the Roadmaps section.
Click the pencil icon in-line with a step. This allows you to rename the step or change the fields.
Reordering Steps in a Roadmap Template
In Client Portal, click Roadmap Builder in the left sidebar.
Click on a template in the Roadmaps section.
Click and drag steps to reorder them. The step number updates automatically as you reorder them.
Removing a Step from a Roadmap Template
In Client Portal, click Roadmap Builder in the left sidebar.
Click on a template in the Roadmaps section.
Click the X icon in-line with a step.
Finalizing Your Roadmap Template
Click the Preview button. The Internal Only view is selected by default.
Review your roadmap for accuracy.
Check step names, dates, and descriptions
Look for typos
Make sure the order of each step is correct
Click Preview as client and review the roadmap again.
Make sure internal steps aren't visible
Make any last changes, as needed.
What should I do next?
Next, you should assign roadmap templates to your clients' transactions.
📖 Note
For help assigning templates to transactions, check out this article in our Knowledge Base.
When you assign a roadmap template to a transaction, a client roadmap based on the template is created. Once the client roadmap exists, the client can log into Client Portal and view their roadmap.
