Understanding Activities vs. Metrics

Written by Kayla Latta

In Sisu, performance data is tracked in two ways: Activities and Metrics. Understanding the difference between them helps ensure your team records information accurately and gets the most value from reporting and dashboards.

Topics in this article:

Activities

Activities are manually tracked actions that users record by increasing or decreasing a counter. Team administrators define which Activities are available, and users update their own counts as they complete those actions.

Examples of Activities might include:

  • Conversations

  • Hours Prospected

  • Open Houses Held

  • Handwritten Notes Sent

Activities are not connected to transaction records. Instead, they are simple counters that track completed actions.

For instructions on recording your Activities, see the Recording Activities article. πŸ“™

Metrics

Metrics are generated from transaction data in Sisu. Rather than manually increasing a counter, users record information within a transaction, and Sisu automatically updates the corresponding metric.

For example, Listing Appointments Met is a metric. Instead of clicking a button to add one appointment, you enter a date in the appropriate transaction field. Sisu then tracks that information automatically and includes it in dashboards and reports.

One way to identify a metric on the Dashboard is that it is often clickable, allowing you to view the transactions contributing to the total.

CRM Integrations and Activities

If your team uses a CRM integration, certain actions performed in the CRM can automatically create transactions or update records in Sisu. When this happens, the related Activity may be incremented automatically, eliminating the need for manual entry.

For more information on integrations, see the Integrations collection of articles. πŸ“™

Best Practice: Use Metrics Whenever Possible

Metrics provide more detailed reporting because they are tied directly to transaction data. Whenever a metric already exists in Sisu, use the appropriate transaction field instead of creating a custom Activity.

For example, rather than creating an Activity called Listing Appointments Set, record the appointment date in the "1st Time Appt Met" transaction field designed for that purpose. This allows Sisu to automatically track the metric and include it in dashboards, reports, and forecasting tools.

Using metrics whenever possible helps maintain accurate reporting and provides greater visibility into your team's performance.
