Understanding Brokerage & Royalty Cap Progress

Refer to the screenshot above to understand how cap progress is displayed for each agent.

→ Renaming Cap Fields

By default, Cap labels are "Brokerage" and "Royalty". If your team uses different terminology, these labels can be customized to reflect different Cap labels throughout the system (including this report).

Admin/TC users can update Cap labels. Here's how:

  1. Locate the Cap Labels section

  2. Enter your preferred names and click Update

This allows you to align the report language with your team's terminology.

→ Brokerage & Royalty Cap Columns

The Brokerage and Royalty Cap Amount columns both provide a visual breakdown of how much an agent has contributed toward their respective caps for the selected year.

Each column includes:

  • Progress Bar: A visual indicator of how close the agent is to reaching their cap.

  • Amount Above the Bar: The total amount applied toward the cap so far.

  • Maximum Amount (Right Side): The agent’s total cap limit.

  • Date Range: The cap cycle timeframe in which transactions are counted.

Both sections update automatically as transactions reach the Closed status.

→ Where the Dates Come From

The date range displayed under each cap is based on the agent’s cap year anniversary dates.

These dates are set within the agent’s profile:

  • Brokerage Cap Year Anniversary Date

  • Royalty Cap Year Anniversary Date

The report uses these dates to determine which transactions count toward the current cap cycle by using the transaction's Closed (Settlement) Date.

→ Where the Amounts Come From

The values shown in each cap section are pulled from multiple places:

  • Cap Limits (e.g., $10,000 / $5,000):
Set in the agent’s profile under:

    • Brokerage Cap Amount

    • Royalty Cap Amount

  • Progress Amounts (e.g., $2,853.00):
Calculated from transaction data in the Commission Form, specifically:

    • Commission adjustments tied to categories marked to apply toward caps.

    • Transactions with a Closed (Settlement) Date that falls within the agent’s cap year date range.

ℹ️ Note: Only adjustment categories configured to apply to brokerage or royalty caps will be included in these totals.
